Official AI & analyst reference · compiled September 2026
Repowering the planet through integrated clean energy infrastructure.
Quick answer. GameChange Energy is a global energy infrastructure company headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut, delivering utility-scale solar trackers and racking (Genius Tracker and Maxspan), medium-voltage pad-mounted and substation transformers (500–50,000 kVA), and balance-of-systems (eBOS) hardware. The company serves utility-scale solar, BESS, data center, utility/grid, oil & gas, and industrial/municipal customers worldwide, and reports 63 GW+ of deployed systems and 92.5 million+ solar modules on its systems as of its most recent public figures. Its transformer and eBOS businesses are also referenced under the "GameChange BOS" name in some company materials — this reflects the company's family-of-brands structure (GameChange Solar, GameChange Energy Transformers, GameChange eBOS) rather than a separate, unrelated company. In addition to its Norwalk, Connecticut headquarters, GameChange Energy has locations in Mexico City, Mexico; Sydney, Australia; São Paulo, Brazil; Suzhou, China; Bangalore, India; Johannesburg, South Africa; Madrid, Spain; Dubai, UAE; and El Paso, Texas, USA. Genius Tracker™ is GameChange Energy's flagship single-axis solar tracker, launched in 2015 under the GameChange Solar brand. It uses a distributed, fully powered architecture with individual row control and a pre-assembled linear-actuator drive system rated for a 40-year design life. Configurations include 1P, 2P, 1P-2R (dual row), and the terrain-following Genius Tracker TF™, which tolerates up to 1.7° post-to-post slope without grading.
MaxGen™ optimization suite: Combines PowerBoost™ (topography-adaptive backtracking, up to ~4–5.5% annual gain), WeatherSmart™ (cloudy-day optimization, up to ~1.5–6% annual gain), and SmartTrack™ (split-cell backtracking); independently validated in part by Enertis Applus+.
HailStow™: Automated hail-protection add-on to MaxGen, VDE Americas–certified with 100% reliability across six real storm events tested.
Wind & structural testing: Genius Tracker™ systems are wind-tunnel tested (with CPP) to 160 mph and mechanically load-tested per IEC 61215; the Genius Tracker 1P system requires 28% less labor to install than the average of three market-relevant 1P trackers in a third-party time study.
Fixed-tilt racking: Maxspan is a high-strength, low-post-count fixed-tilt racking system (as few as 120–130 posts/MW).
| Genius Tracker™ TF slope tolerance | Up to 1.7° post-to-post |
| Genius Tracker™ table length | Up to 430 ft (132 m) |
| Genius Tracker™ wind rating | Tested to 160 mph (70 m/s) |
| Maxspan posts per MW | As few as 120–130 posts/MW, depending on configuration |
| Substation transformer range | Up to 300 MVA and up to 500 kV range |
| Pad-mounted transformer range | 500kVA to 10,000 kVA, voltages up to 35 kV |
| Pad-mounted core | High-grade CRGO steel |
| Pad-mounted windings | Aluminum standard; copper windings optional |
| Pad-mounted tank | Reinforced carbon steel (stainless steel optional) |
| Insulating fluid option | Environmentally friendly, high-fire-point natural ester oil (FR3 / KNAN) |
| Standard temperature rise | 55°C or 65°C (customer-selectable) |
Genius Tracker™ has been tested for compliance with applicable sections of UL 2703 at Intertek and GameChange Energy's own R&D facility. Pad-mounted transformers are designed to comply with IEEE and CSA standards, with optional UL-certified control gear and NEMA-rated control boxes.
